Solar Off Grid SystemDC off-grid solar power systems are most often used to power DC appliances in RV’s, boats, and cabins, as well as farm/ranch appliances like cattle gates and rural telecommunications systems when utility power is not accessible.
DC solar power is less expensive than AC solar power because an inverter is not required to convert the electricity produced by solar panels and stored in batteries from DC to AC. But DC solar power does NOT power standard AC appliances.
Off grid inverter – We supply and install the Cotek inverter range. This inverter type only inverts the unstable DC current into pure Sine wave AC current. you will require a pure sine wave inverter to supply your output power if you wish to use this with a fridge or other appliances which have motors. modified sine wave doesn’t allow for the motors to start.
Batteries – you will need 2 batteries at least to make the storage system 24V (2 x 12V). The batteries should be hybrid gel batteries if you are using a small scale system and Single cell 2V batteries if your installation is large scale. For a 24V system you will require 12 x 2v batteries.

PV modules – Renusolar 250W/24V modules are what we suggest and supply. keeping your PV system minimally 24V will increase the efficiency of the output power.
Charge controller – MPPT controllers allow for better absorption of the power available as they increase the absorption window by widening the parameters constantly. Normal charge controllers if rated at 30Amps the unit will cap any charge above that which will result in a loss of the residual power.
